When it comes to our health, even the best vitamins must take a backseat to the food we eat, but how does a guy who can’t cook very well qualify to have his name on a cookbook? Well, I suppose that loving to eat is a good start and the fact that I know what constitutes a healthy diet is important as well, but my limited skills in the kitchen would prevent me from creating recipes you would enjoy. As a result, I have never felt qualified to write a cookbook; however, this is not really a cookbook, but my "Eating Book," since I was able to rely on a professional chef to turn my favorite foods into great recipes. In short, the only reason this book exists is because my best friend, with whom I live, happens to be a trained professional chef. Her name is Muriel Angot and she was born and raised in Paris - the world’s capital of fine cuisine and the same city where she attended the world-renowned Le Cordon Bleu cooking school made famous by Julia Child. Muriel has improved on all my favorite soups that I have enjoyed for many years and in some cases, for my entire life. It is only Muriel’s exceptional talent in the kitchen that has brought all my favorite soup recipes to life and now, to you. But why soups? Well, ever since childhood, soups have been my favorite food. They are delicious, low in calories, easy to prepare, simple to eat, easy to control portions and they enable me to enjoy many healthy foods I do not normally eat throughout the day. Soups have made it easy for me to maintain a healthy weight throughout my life, since weight control is all about portion control and since soups are liquid, there is no fooling oneself or weighing or guessing about portion size. In fact, whenever we make soups at home, we only use an 8-ounce portion and store them in the refrigerator in 8-ounce glass storage bowls. We can then simply eat them cold or reheat them in the microwave. In this way, we ensure that we never consume more than an 8-ounce cup of soup. Sadly, typical soup bowls are enormous and caloric levels skyrocket, but with an 8-ounce cup of soup your portions are always low calorie. When you look at the recipes, you will notice that many of these soups contain beans and legumes, since they are so remarkably rich in protein and fiber, which also makes these soups healthy, hearty and filling. You will also find soups containing a wide range of healthy fruits and vegetables including of course cruciferous vegetables, along with a myriad of herbs and spices that are so rich in healthy phytonutrients. I have always included these healthy ingredients in my soups, since I have found that I often do not eat them sufficiently and soups make it so much easier for me to eat better. As a child I simply enjoyed soup, but as a busy adult, I have found that as far back as college, soups have been an easy, affordable and delicious way to eat better. I have tried several recipes from the vegetable cookbook which were wonderful, but tonight was the first time I tried anything from the soup cookbook. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed the chili recipe and, believe me, he is very hard to please. This was the best chili we have ever had! Keep up the good work, Muriel - I look forward to another soup recipe this week.

So glad I purchased this cookbook. I just made the bell pepper and onion soup and the legumes and spinach soup. Flavorful and nutritious. I am so happy with this purchase. Thank you Muriel and Andrew!

Thank you, Muriel and Andrew. I love soup, and all my favorites are here. My post-gall-bladder removal means that liquids are the least taxing for me, but canned soups have lost their appeal for me. Split Pea, Mushroom, Cauliflower, Lentil ... such great ways to prepare vegetables and legumes, ways that include healthy fats, in small amounts, loads of healthy spices and how to use them (I've never been one to venture beyond basic herbs in a jar), and so fresh and nourishing. The nutrition information with the number of fat, protein, and carb grams is extremely helpful and encouraging; I'm eating well without a lot of fat or refined carb and getting fiber at the same time. Over time I saw the negative effects of canned soups, even though they were full of healthy ingredients; the sodium levels are unreal and I want to stop the exposure to Bisphenol-A. These are such a great alternative to frozen vegetables slathered with butter or canned beans ... thanks so much. I love your supplements but I also want to try to nourish my body with the food I put in it. It is so much easier to do that with these simple and efficient recipes composed of wonderful things from nature. I can't wait to work through the entire book. Yum!

Cookbooks, that is .....This book is outstanding in every way. Beautiful layout al la Wegman's style. More importantly, the soups are delicious and don't have an icky "health food" taste. Some of the ingredients are not so easy to find in rural stores but worth the search effort as they add a subtle exotic flavor to the dishes. I would love to have another book on Andrew's favorite main dishes please Muriel. Buy the book - even your kids will enjoy these soups (just don't tell them what is in it).

Greetings to Andrew and Muriel... I full of joy to set good time to prepare healthy-nutritional-fresh-home-made cooking not over-cooked. I have prepared eight(8) savory soup recipes, page 1, 2, 3, 6, 9, 14 without crab meat and incorporated powdered cashew nuts on the top of the soup then p. 17 & 18 and the rest of the recipes I am looking forward with delight to taste them deliciously in vegetarian ingredients. I have some improvised/changes of nutritional herbal seasoning approaches. I tasted both the organic skinless-chicken broth as well as the vibrantly-green vegetable broth. I used the green vegetable broth most of the time and all ingredients blended together synergistically. I believe in my heart this wonderful-bless cook book is beneficial to our digestive health. I know my brother, Oasis and Merly will prepare healthy soup for our Mom, Asuncion it is bless-nutritionally-healthy for her and with the ProCaps vitamins love gift for them. It is delightly-glad to be in the kitchen to have wonderful healthy home-made foods. Andrew, I incorporate also fresh fruits and prepare milk shakes and have healthy brown-rice and unleavened grain bread too to add the spice of healthy foods. It is fun to be in the kitchen and it is cooking with nutritional health food with success. BON APEITITE..................
My Newest and "Bestest" Food "Bible"

This is one of the most beautifully laid out and illustrative cookbooks I own. But first, to the recipes ... I'm trying one every other day and love every one of them. The ingredients used in them are all my favorites and then to know the nutritional values and benefits is a plus. Muriel and Andrew, you did a magnificent job on this. Every other cookbook I have pales in comparison to this. I would not expect anything else from anything Andrew touches ... always perfection. I'm so excited about this cookbook that I'll be ordering several in the next few weeks to give to some of my favorite people for Christmas. Oh, did I mention the soups satisfy my appetite, make me feel healthier, please my eye, warm my heart. Thank you so much you two. It would be hard to outdo this one, but I wouldn't be surprised if there's another one like this on the horizon from you.
Fantastic Soup Recipes!

I'm not a big fan of vegetables - but I will eat almost anything if it's in a soup. I tried the Green Split Pea Recipe and the Cauliflower Soup Recipe just after receiving the cookbook - FANTASTIC. I'm trying the Mushroom Soup Recipe tonight - and the Asparagus tomorrow. If they are as delicious as the first two recipes I tried, I'll be thrilled! Not only did I enjoy them, but they make a full meal for my elderly parents - and the friends who sampled the results absolutely LOVED the soups. Andrew and Muriel have a real winner here. I've love to see more cookbooks from them - soups, casseroles, etc. I'd also like them to include a good broccoli soup recipe - one of the few vegetables missing from this cookbook. Not only are the soups good - but I'm learning a lot. I find that I do online searches for information on ingredients I may not have used before - shelf-life, cleaning, etc. I learned quite a bit about leeks before I tried the cauliflower soup recipe and I did a lot of research on various types of mushrooms to get ready for the mushroom soup scheduled for this evening! Thank you!!!!!

I just got this cook book in the mail from HSN on Tuesday and on Wednesday already made the Cold Avocado Soup with crab and it was AWESOME!!! I love the visuals this cook book provides and I like the way it focuses on soups. I am soooo sick of cook books that have tons of recipes with no pictures. Please make another one!!!!

I have not received it yet, but I just want to say that I live alone, and Soups are one my favorite things to fix because I can have leftovers for another meal. I have been a fan of Andrew Lessman and his vitamins for quite a few years. I watch Andrew every time he is on HSN. I can honestly say the knowledge I have gain from him has been life changing. This cookbook is a wonderful extension of Andrew's teachings and Muriel's ability as a creative chef. I love the variety of flavor and texture Muriel has created with Andrew's favorite ingredients. I also love there are hot and cold options. I look forward to more cookbooks in the future....Salads perhaps:) Congratulations to the both of you on a job well done !!!!

I really do not love cooking, but these recipes are so easy to prepare that even I have enjoyed making them. I have made the Tomato Velvet Soup, the Creamy Asparagus Soup with Chicken, and the Zucchini and Herb Soup. My entire family (including the kids) all loved the soups. The presentation in the book makes all of the recipes easy to follow and I know I'm giving my family something healthy to eat... so Andrew and Muriel... all I can say is Merci Beaucoup and keep the cookbooks coming!!!!

I've been very concerned with my nutrition for quite a while, but so confused by all the misinformation that is out there...Eat this, don't eat that (not the book)...by Doctor's and nutritionist's...Dr. Oz wrote the intro in the book and if you watch his show, he'll confuse you more. In Dec. I saw Dr. Joel Fuhrman on PBS and went to the Library and got his book "Eat to Live". It is a very good read for those interested in nutrition. I had read the China Study 2 years ago and believe that the findings were true. However, "Eat to Live" puts everything in prospective. I'm not lecturing and not trying to entice anyone into following it, that would be for you to decide. I think that Andrew would agree to most of the information, if not all. That is for him to say. What say you Andrew??? Getting to the point here. This cookbook is fantastic. Muriel and Andrew did an outstanding job on this book from the spiral binding to the easily wiped pages, and it is so reasonably priced. I just made the Barley soup w/ vegetables. It's delish!!!! I did use 4 cups chicken stock (because I had it) and 2 cups of water. I also used quick cook barley (because I had it). I think the fire roasted tomatoes added punch to the flavor. You will love this soup.....Friday I'm making the Butternut squash soup. It's there for you to enjoy and improve your health.......... Gail/Michigan

I have a ton of cookbooks and this has already become my favorite. The pictures are beautiful and inviting, the instructions are clear and the soups are delicious! Having a picture with each step is wonderful! All the ingredients are easy to find in my grocery store. I also love having the nutritional info. My husband loves the soups we've made so far and is requesting soup and salad as a meal each week. I never thought my steak and potatoes husband would fall in love with soup! These recipes are great for us to do together since he enjoys chopping the ingredients. Please bring more cookbooks!

The pictures are fantastic, recipes are easy to follow and ingredients are easy to find, nothing in these recipes that you never heard of before. The spiral binding is wonderful. You can have this open on the counter and not ruin the book.

I purchase quite a few cookbooks and this in one of the best. I love that each recipe has several pictures and easy simple directions not to mention the nutrition information in detail for each soup. Have not made any of the soups yet however, can see myself trying several. Just had to stop what I was doing and let you know how impressed I am with this book. Please do many more books and I will purchase each one.

Easy and Delicious Soups!

I had the opportunity to spend a few days in the kitchen with Muriel as she cooked all of the soups in this cookbook. For me it was a wonderful experience because I was able to watch first hand how easy and effortless it is to cook delicious, healthy soups. I also got to eat all of the soups which was a treat. <br><br> Once I was home, I started to cook my favorite soups that Muriel made for me. My top favorite soups are the Gazpacho Andaluz Soup, Mango Red Curry Chicken Soup, Barley and Green Lentil Soup with Italian Chicken-Sausage and Hearty Turkey Chili. The fact that I came home and started to "cook" was amazing. I've never been great at cooking for myself. This has also been a treat for my husband seeing how he does all of the cooking for the two of us. <br><br> A fun opportunity came my way when my husband came home and told me that he entered me in a Chili cook off contest at his work. I was a bit nervous because I can't even cook for myself, how am I going to cook for over 50 people? But... The Hearty Turkey Chili in Andrew's Favorite Soups cookbook is the most amazing Chili I've ever had so I had some confidence that this Chili would do great. <br><br> The Chili I made was competing against 13 Chili's! There were over 50 hungry people there who devoured the Chili I made. Believe it or not, it won first place!!! My husband and I then donated what we won back to the Army to the Chaplains fund which helped raise money for soldiers who needed help buying a Thanksgiving and/or Christmas dinner. Talk about the best Chili ever, it brought so much joy to so many people. <br><br> Of course I couldn't stop myself there with these soups. My husband and I are learning how to can food. I got the idea to try and can some of these soups that way I would always have a healthy snack/meal on hand as an option vs. grabbing the easiest snack available. My first cooking/canning project was the Barley and Green Lentil Soup with Italian Chicken-Sausage. It worked! Now I

Thanks for making this book simple to follow. It has very nice layouts and the pictures are clear and the recipes don't want to make me give up, very well done. I have fallen in love with three recipes already. Thank you both for doing this for us as I know it takes a lot of thought and work to make a good cookbook. The key word here good. Getting one for a couple of my children because of how nice it's done.
